The religion is followed all over the world with majority of the followers being in Europe, Australia and North America. Some of the beliefs in Christianity are similar to those of the Jews religion practiced over 2000 years ago. Christians believe in one God and rely on the bible for moral and spiritual guidance. Christianity is centered around Jesus Christ, who is believed to be the son of God. Jesus was born in Jerusalem thousands of years ago and lived a righteous life. When Jesus was on earth, he preached the word of God to the Jews and gentiles. He also taught the scriptures and performed some miracles. Changing water into win, feeding a multitude of people with five loaves of bread and two fish, and healing the sick are some of the miracles he did. However, the scribes and Pharisees were not impressed by the works of Jesus and eventually conspired to have him arrested and killed. Jesus was put on trial for claiming to be the son of God. Jesus was convicted and sentenced to die on the cross with two thieves. Three days after dying, Jesus rose from the dead. He appeared to some of his disciples a few times after his resurrection and eventually ascended to heaven.

The disciples had to go to places where the Gospel hadn’t been proclaimed and preach to the people. The word ‘Christians’ was first used to described the disciples of Jesus at a city called Antioch in ancient Turkey. Believers of other religions around the world did not always welcome the Christians and usually persecuted them for their faith.
